POINTE-CLAIRE AND ENVIRONS
Pointe-Claire was originally a popular summer destination for city-dwellers. Over the years, conscientious urban planning and development have allowed this warm, welcoming community to preserve its singular charm.
Pointe-Claire is located west of Dorval and is home to Fairview Pointe-Claire Shopping Centre, the largest commercial complex in Montréal's West Island with some 200 stores and restaurants. A full service gym, medical clinic and YMCA facility are all located in close proximity to Le Cambridge.
Pointe-Claire's residential area extends north and south of Autoroute 20 and includes a large number of waterfront properties. The city is home to mostly single family dwellings but includes a mix of apartments, townhouses and condominiums. Lakeshore General Hospital is also located within the city limits.
Pointe-Claire village features a selection of interesting boutiques, eateries and historic properties. Stewart Hall, now a cultural centre, is one of the leading cultural facilities in the area. The municipal library provides services in two locations: adjacent to City Hall (main library) and in Valois Bay (branch). Pointe Claire is nationally renowned for its competitive sports programs, especially swimming and diving, and boasts one of the nation's premier Masters swim teams. The municipality also includes a private golf club, curling club and several marinas.
